Rose Water Skin Care Recipes and Ideas

Rose Water Skin Care Recipes and Ideas

Rose water is used in a variety of ways in skin care treatments. The best part of using rose water for skin is that it is suitable for every skin type. Whether you have an oily skin or a dry one, sensitive skin or normal skin, rose water is perfect for you. It also has some antiseptic and anti-bacterial properties that help to do away with some of the basic skin problems if used in the right way. It is gentle on your skin and has a heavenly smell.

Rose water is effective in soothing, balancing, toning and moisturizing your skin so that you feel rejuvenated and refreshed. Once you start realizing how easily you can take care of your skin with the help of rose water, I am sure it is going to take a permanent place among your beauty products.

Rose Water Beauty Tips for Skin:

• Use Rose Water instead of plain water while you prepare your face packs; this would help to enhance the effectiveness as rosewater is endowed with natural cleansing as well as moisturizing properties.

• Use it directly on your skin as a cleanser. Since it has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, it helps to take out dirt and oil from clogged pores and trim down the problem of pimples and acne.

• Dab it on your face and use it as a toner. If you can do it everyday, you would notice significant diminishing of open pores. It helps to hydrate your skin, give a youthful touch and prevent wrinkles.

Rose Water Skin Care Recipes: Seven Easy Ideas

1. Rosewater-Glycerin cleanser: Add two spoons of glycerin and a few drops of rose essential oil to a cup of rose water. Use it as a cleanser for your face. It is very gentle on your skin and helps to lessen chances of getting fine lines.

2. Rosewater-Lemon juice skin tonic– Mix rose water and lemon juice in equal quantities. Wash your face, preferably with warm water since that would help to open up the pores. Apply the mixture on the affected area and wait for fifteen minutes. It is useful to reduce pimples and acnes. It is however recommended that you get a patch test done before application as you might suffer from irritations if it does not suit you.

3. Rosewater-Sandalwood pack- Add one spoon of sandalwood powder with one spoon of rosewater. Apply the paste on your face to get rid of acnes. This must be done once in a week.

4. Fenugreek Rosewater pack- Soak a few fenugreek seeds in water overnight and make a fine paste by crushing them in a blender. Add rose water. Apply it on your face. Keep it on for about twenty minutes and rinse in cold water. This pack is helpful in treating acnes.

5. Rosewater-Fullers Earth faces pack (for oily skin): If you have a tough time controlling excessive oil secretion, try this pack. Take some fuller’s earth (multani mitti) and add some rosewater to make a fine paste. Add a few drops of lemon juice. It cleanses pores effectively and prevents excessive oil secretion.

6. Rosewater-Almonds face pack (for dry skin): Make a paste of almonds and combine it with rose water. You may also add some honey. This face pack is excellent for dry skin.

7. Rosewater-Honey face pack (for sensitive skin): Mix rosewater, milk and honey. Add some oatmeal and make a paste. Apply it on your face and let it dry. Rinse with cold water.

How to Make Rose Water At Home?

Instead of relying on the ready-made rosewater available in fancy bottles in your favorite cosmetic stores, if you want to prepare rosewater at home for your beauty needs, you would require some rose petals (if possible, free from pesticides) and a pot of water. Trim the petals and add adequate water. Let it boil for about twenty minutes. The liquid should be strained well. The rosewater should now be allowed to cool and then stored in the refrigerator. This is pure and your skin reaps the best benefits.

5 Steps To A Home Pedicure

I believe well groomed feet contribute greatly to our overall beauty and personality and are the best indicator to how well we look after ourselves. They carry our body weight all through the day and they do deserve to be indulged time and again. Alas! Foot care always takes a back seat when it comes to grooming and beauty treatments. Most of you will agree that although we spend a lot of our precious time and money pampering our face and body, feet get little of our attention.

What you will need:

  • Nail Clippers, Cotton pads, Nail Polish Remover, Cuticle Cream , Cuticle pusher, emery board or nail file
  • Basin for soaking and towels for drying your feet. (Foot wash ingredients are listed below)
  • Foot file, pumice stone or a loofah
  • A good foot scrub
  • Foot moisturizer

How to proceed…

1. TRIMMING AND SHAPING:
Remove your old nail polish with some cotton dipped in nail polish remover. Trim your nails. Make sure you cut straight across and don’t cut the corners too much as this can lead to painful ingrown nails. Use an emery board or nail file to give them the desired shape. Some people may prefer to cut nails after soaking as they will be softer and easy to shape. I do this first as my nails get too soft for shaping once they are soaked.

2. FOOT SOAK

A good foot soak goes a long way in beating the stress after a long day. In a basin fill warm water enough to cover up to your ankles and add:

  • Epsom salt ½ cup. This is an emollient and will soothe inflammations, reduce roughness and reduce muscle pain. Also helps with exfoliation. (Available in most medical shops). However if you do not have this you can use any other bath salts you may have on hand.
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • A few drops of a Foot Wash of your choice. You can substitute this with liquid hand wash or shampoo if you like.
  • Essential oils of your choice. (10-12 drops). I use lavender and eucalyptus. Lavender soothes and rejuvenates the skin and helps calm the nerves while eucalyptus provides excellent relief to aching feet. It is also a very good antiseptic and disinfectant.
  • Add a few smooth pebbles to the water. These will provide a gentle massage as you place your feet on them. Feels heavenly!! (Read this tip somewhere and totally love it!)
  • Sit in a comfortable position, soak your feet and relax for 15-20 minutes. Dry them with a towel.

3. EXFOLIATE

Once you towel your feet, rub in some cuticle cream on the base of each toe nail and leave it on for a few minutes. In the meantime, use a good foot file or pumice stone to remove the dry and rough and dead skin cells. If this skin is not removed it will become hard and thick and will be infected or cracked. Be sure to scrub the heel and balls of the feet, sides of your heels and around your toes, basically anywhere there is rough, hard skin. Do not scrape too hard. Be firm but gentle.

If you do not have too much dry, rough skin just use a loofah for some gentle scrubbing. Next, wipe off the cuticle cream and push back cuticles gently with a cuticle pusher. Use an old toothbrush to scrub your toes and underneath the nails. Wipe your feet dry.
Use a good foot scrub and gently massage your feet. Scrub your soles, paying special attention to your heels, in between your toes and the tops and sides of your feet. Scrub your ankles as well.

4. MOISTURIZE:

Once you are done scrubbing, wash your feet clean and moisturize them. For this I love Scholl Foot Mousse. This works wonders for dry feet. Softens, hydrates and protects from cracking. Moreover it is instantly absorbed, so u can wear socks immediately after. Again, if you do not have this, use any other moisturizer of your choice. A face cream you found to be too heavy for the face can do the trick!! I always use products that don’t work out for the face on the feet. This way I don’t feel guilty about my impulsive purchases!

Almond oil and olive oil (1tsp each) with 10-12 drops of your favorite essential oil also makes a good home made massage oil for feet.

Rub a generous portion into your feet and massage well, better still if you can get someone else to do the massage for you. Ask your hubby or a friend! Sit back and relax! Regular foot massages help keep nerve endings stimulated, improve blood circulation, nourish the skin and foot muscles.

If you have cracks, follow up with a cream formulated especially for that. You can also use Vaseline mixed with lime juice, wrap with plastic for 15 minutes. Wear loose cotton socks and tuck yourself in. Voila!! Happy Gorgeous Feet!

Do this religiously twice a week and follow up with once a week along with daily cleansing and moisturizing and your feet will be feeling like a million bucks!

5. DRESS THEM UP!

Paint your toe nails with a color of your choice. Always apply a base coat. Wait for it to dry and then apply a coat of nail polish. Let it dry completely before you apply the next coat. This will make your nail polish last longer. Showcase your feet in stylish footwear, a beautiful anklet, pretty toe ring or even tattoos…whatever you fancy!

How to Hide Acne/Pimples with Makeup

-Finding the Right Makeup-

•Acquire oil-free makeup. Cosmetics that do not clog pores are called noncomedogenic or non-acnegenic. The first ingredient in your makeup should be water. Opt for mineral-based cosmetics, which will absorb excess oil and hide redness without irritating your skin.

Noncomedogenic makeup does not interfere with acne medication.

•Pick the right primer for your skin. Use oil-free primer to keep your makeup in place. It can be especially difficult to keep concealer on an inflamed zit, but a dab of primer does the trick. Lightweight primers are less likely to irritate acne and are easier on oily skin.

•Use a primer with SPF for protection from the sun, especially if you have scarring or hyperpigmentation. Sun exposure can slow the healing process.

•Consider a powder foundation. A mineral-powder foundation is less likely to clog your pores than a liquid foundation, though it will provide less coverage. Opt for mattifying products: they absorb excess oil, and a matte finish conceals bumpiness.

•Avoid shimmery finish, which will draw attention to bumps.Foundations that are designed to last all day are more likely to clog your pores, causing further acne.

•Find or make a concealer that matches your skin tone. Concealer that is too light or dark will highlight your trouble spots, rather than hiding them. Mix two shades of concealer if you cannot find one that matches your skin.

•Consider using a setting powder.Setting powder can benefit oily skin, but can exacerbate dryness in other skin. If you choose to use it, find a light setting powder that is less likely to trap oils under your skin.

-Applying the Makeup-

•Clean and moisturize your skin. Before applying makeup, gently wash your face with warm water. Gently rub in a fragrance-free water-based moisturizer. Apply a sunscreen or a moisturizer-sunscreen combination for protection against the sun.

Sunscreen does not cause acne unless it contains harmful chemicals such as PABA and benzophenone.

•Prepare your brush or sponge. You can use brushes or sponges to apply your makeup if you would like to avoid touching your skin. Acne can be caused by bacteria on the hands, but sponges or brushes can also hold bacteria, so be sure wash them at least twice a week.

•Apply primer. Wait a few minutes to allow your skin to absorb the moisturizer, then use your fingers or a sponge to apply primer. If you prefer not to use a primer across your whole face, you can dab it onto problem spots to help fasten your concealer.

•Apply concealer. Wait a few minutes for your primer to set, then apply concealer in an x to your acne. Gently pat it in place. Do not rub, or it may streak.

You may prefer to wait on the concealer after you have applied foundation, as foundation will cover many of the milder occurrences of acne.
You can use a green concealer to diffuse pigmentation. Never apply green concealer after applying foundation.

•Apply foundation. Wait a few seconds for your concealer to set, then use a brush to apply foundation. Use as little as possible. If your first application seems inadequate, add light, even layers until you are satisfied with the result.

If you still have spots, wait a few minutes for your foundation to set, then add concealer. If you are finishing with a setting powder, you can apply it now. With a brush, apply it on your skin in slow circles.

Once your foundation has set, you can apply the rest of your makeup.

This Tool Changes The Way You Paint Your Nails

It’s called the Tweexy and, basically, it’s here to save your life.

If you’re into painting your nail polishes at home and, if you’re living on the same budget as we are, who isnt?, you’ll be happy to know that there is a tool out there that will completely up your nail polish game to next level, nail-technician status. This tool is called the Tweexy and it’s a nail polish bottle holder that is fashioned on a ring to sit on your hand as you polish away.

That’s right, with this silicone holder, you can polish your nails anytime, anywhere, without fear of spilling the bottle and, you know, making a veritable mess that’s close to impossible to remove with regular ol’ laundry detergent.

The Tweexy comes with expandable rings (to fit any finger size), squeeze tabs and a bottle grip to ensure your nail polish doesn’t move a centimeter.

Home manicures will never be the same again!

When To Throw It Away?

The time guide to keeping makeup.

Review: Clinique Makeup Applicator

First, there were sonic toothbrushes. Then came sonic cleansing brushes. And now, sonic makeup sponges—like Clinique’s new Airbrushed Finish Liquid Foundation Applicator — have the market, quite literally, buzzing.

Clinique’s version is unique in that it’s a replacement head for its pre-existing Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush. Just pop off the brush head and attach the sponge before dotting foundation onto your forehead, cheeks, and chin. Then use the vibrating sponge to gently buff and blend to an airbrushed finish.

I sampled the cleansing brush, switching to the sponge applicator with ease. My instinct was to mash the sponge into my face, as I would a Beautyblender. But the trick here is to let the sponge glide over your skin, allowing the sonic vibrations to do the work for you. A few passes later, and I was thoroughly impressed: My makeup was blended so evenly, I looked like I’d had it done professionally.

The verdict? If you’re a tinted-moisturizer type who typically just applies with your fingers for a natural finish, this probably isn’t for you. But if you’re a full face of foundation kinda girl who generally throws every tool in the shed at getting a seamless finish, this little device will save you a whole lot of energy. (Energy you won’t have to spend cleaning your makeup brushes, I might add.)

The Eyebrow Stamp

For those who are not used to creating the perfectly-shaped eyebrows, the eyebrow stamp will make it easier for you to shape and fill in your brows without spending too much time and effort. It’s easy and you can re-apply it throughout the day.

Most women, including me,  have experimented with almost anything when it comes to having the perfect-looking eyebrows. The tiring part is, we need to make it over and over again each time we go out. Well, that’s why a lot of makeup companies have innovated on ways to make it easier for women to have the perfectly-shaped brows without spending too much time in front of the mirror. An eyebrow stamp is a new way to have the perfect eyebrow shape and it will last the whole day too.

An eyebrow stamp works just like any other stamp out there. You have a sponge that will eventually create the shape of the brow. You’ll also have the makeup powder that will be used to fill in those eyebrows.

Using an eyebrow stamp is way easier than using other techniques like eyebrow pencils and stencils. Just like a stamp, all you need is to damp the sponge on the makeup powder and apply it on your brows.

For those who are not used to creating the perfectly-shaped eyebrows, the eyebrow stamp will make it easier for you to shape and fill in your brows without spending too much time and effort. It’s easy and you can re-apply it throughout the day.

Will you try using an eyebrow stamp? I’d love to hear your thoughts please share them in the comments section below!
